Overview: We are seeking 3 - 4 highly motivated postdoctoral research associates or Special Research Assistant to join the research group of Feiwu Zhang and Joshua Muir located at the Institute of Geochemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IGCAS) in Guiyang China. The positions are flexible and mainly focusing on the construction of a machine learning platform for the mineralization mechanisms of critical metal elements and the computational mineral physics. The researcher can contribute to the core topics currently studied by this group- including volatiles in the earth and storage of elements in the earth- but will also be encouraged to develop their own research ideas focused in some area of computational mineral physics.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Develop theoretical prediction methods for element distribution using first-principles molecular dynamics and statistical mechanics, along with experimental simulation techniques under relevant conditions.
2. Assist in the construction of a high-performance scientific computing big data and machine learning platform for the National Key Laboratory of Critical Mineral Mineralization and Prediction.
3. Develop advanced geochemical data analysis skills to extract key information from multi-source data.
4. Integrate interdisciplinary knowledge by collaborating closely with geologists, geochemists, and data scientists to enhance the comprehensiveness of mineral exploration research methods.
5. Optimize data mining and feature engineering techniques to improve model performance and adaptability, ensuring accuracy in practical applications.
6. Enhance the level of model interpretation and result reporting, providing clear reports for non-experts to facilitate understanding of mineral geochemical processes.
7. Drive technological innovation by proposing and implementing innovative exploration and geochemical analysis methods.
8. Engage in continuous learning and development to maintain a leading position in the fields of mineral geochemistry and machine learning.
9. Use various calculation software (DFT, forcefield, machine learning) to solve mineral physics problems alongside other members of the group and experimental colleagues.
10. Analyse and expand your results and help contribute to future projections and pathways for pursuit
11. Develop proposals for future research particularly related to the key missions of our institute
